The Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations, or MTLE Elementary Education (Grades K-6) exam has three subtests. Individuals seeking to be certified in this subject area are required to pass all three subtests to obtain a license. Subtest 1 is Reading, Communication Arts, Subtest 2 is Mathematics, Health/Fitness, and Fine Arts, and Subtest 3 is Science and Social Studies. All three subtests are administered on computer and contains multiple-choice questions. For the mathematics part of subtest 2, the concepts covered are numerical literacy, patterns, relations, and functions, space and shape, data investigation, randomness and uncertainty, discrete mathematics, mathematical processes and perspectives.
