Southeast Community College is a public college with three campuses and six learning centers in southeastern Nebraska.  The Lincoln campus is the largest campus.  In addition to academic transfer, the Beatrice campus offers programs many programs including Agriculture, Business, Criminal Justice, and Nursing.  The Milford Campus offers technical programs including a nationally recognized Automotive program.  In the spring semester of the 2018-2019 school year, approximately 7,871 students were enrolled.   The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited the college to award associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas.

Applicants to the college are encouraged to submit high school transcripts or GED scores.  However, it is not required.  All students applying to the college are assessed in basic skills to determine course placement in reading, writing, and mathematics.   The college administers Accuplacer Next Generation exams for Mathematics, Reading, and Writing.  Students with SAT or ACT scores high enough, may be waived from the placement testing.  For International Students, TOEFL scores must be submitted to document skills with English.  IELTS scores are not accepted.  For students who want to earn credit by examination, the Lincoln Campus Testing Center offers CLEP exams.

The college offers associate degrees that transfer for students who wish to earn bachelor’s degrees as well as certificates and diplomas for students who want to technical or work-related skills.  An Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice is one of the many programs offered.  This degree enables students to enter the workforce upon completion.  The testing centers at two of the campuses offer the TABE test for law enforcement.  For students who wish to complete a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice the Academic Transfer program offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees with an emphasis in criminal justice which allow students to transfer after graduation.  For students whose passion is working with children, the college offers diplomas, certificates, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education.  Student will be able to seek employment in the childcare field after completing one of these programs.  The college nursing program is approved by the Nebraska State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).  An associate degree nursing program is available as well as a program that bridges the Licensed Practical Nursing program to the Associate Degree Nursing program.  Admission to the nursing program requires students to maintain at least a 2.75 GPA in prerequisite science courses and to submit scores from the ATI TEAS entrance examination.  Successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing enables students to take the National Council of State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
