Located in South Carolina, Clemson University is a public research university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.  The university awards bachelor’s, master’s, education specialist’s, and doctorate degrees.   It is divided into eight different schools or colleges including the graduate school.  Enrollment was about 24,387 students for the 2017-2018 school year.

Being admitted to the university can be difficult.   The grade point average of most admitted students is no lower than 3.75 and is closer to 4.0.  The average SAT composite score for entering students is about 1370 and ACT scores about 29.  For proof of proficiency in English, International students must send TOEFL or IELTS scores.  Before coming to orientation, new students should take the required Math Placement Test online.  There is also a Foreign Language Placement Test for students who wish to continue studying French, German, Russian, or Spanish at the university.

Within the College of Health and Human Development, the School of Nursing provides undergraduate and graduate level degree programs.  The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is a four-year program designed to prepare students to pass the licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) and become registered nurses.  Students may enter the program as freshmen or as transfers.  Space in the program is limited – only about 175 applicants are accepted.  Therefore, the admissions process is competitive.  The criteria for admission are high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and high school class rank.  The College of Education offers a variety of programs for people who are interested in the field of teaching.  Offered are undergraduate programs that lead to certification in in early childhood, elementary, special education, agricultural education, and secondary English, mathematics, science and social studies.  Graduate level programs are also available as well as certificate programs in specific teaching areas.
