Chabot College in Hayward, California is a public community college that receives its accredited status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college recorded data that reflect an enrollment of 13,145 students during the fall of 2017. Students earn associate degrees or certificates in the many programs that are offered by way of six academic divisions. These divisions include the College of the Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Education and Health, Math and Sciences, Language Arts, Business, and Applied Technology. The Associate of Arts in Nursing program at the college has an excellent passing rate on the licensing exam, NCLEX-RN, as posted on the program web page. Students who successfully complete the program and pass the exam are able to work in the health care field as registered nurses or they can apply to a university to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Being admitted to the program is a competitive process and requires good grades in science coursework and passing scores on the ATI TEAS entrance exam. The Business division offers Associate of Science degrees in Accounting and in the field of Business as well as in the Retail Management field. An Associate of Science Transfer degree program is offered in Business Administration. A number of other business-related specialties can be studied to earn Certificates. The Social Sciences division offers the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees in Early Childhood Development. Through the courses studied in these pathways, students prepare to work as childcare specialists upon graduation. They may even aspire to become program directors.
