“I had to take the GHSGT to graduate from high school in Georgia.  I was terrified of the math section as I never understood it in high school.  Your program taught it differently though and I ended up doing great.  Thanks.” – Derek

About the GHSGT Test

The Georgia High School Graduation Test, or GHSGT, administered to all students in the eleventh grade, determines whether or not a student is eligible to graduate from a high school in the US state of Georgia.

The test consists of five subject areas:

  1. English/Language Arts
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science
  4. Social Studies
  5. Writing

Students must pass all five tests to graduate from high school. They are allowed to retake a test as many times as needed, until they achieve a passing score.

Students can take the graduation tests for the first time in the eleventh grade, if they wish to graduate early. The Writing Assessment takes place in the fall, and the GHSGT in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies occur in the spring of the eleventh grade.

Each test is scored from 100-300, with 300 being a perfect score, and students must receive at least 200 points in order to pass each exam. A score higher than 235 will result in graduation “with honors.”

Teachers review the testing process with the students before administering the test, and there are resources available to prepare both students and teachers for the actual taking of the test.
